No need to apologize, as you are simply stating your opinion. I should clarify what I meant by "Gritty versus Absurdity." It is one thing to see elements of terrorism, corporate greed, Nazism, nihilism, loss of identity, sexuality, suicide, and death, and another to summon a space dragon to fire a nuclear-powered energy beam. I prefer gritty character design as well, but I have gotten used to the Remake's design.

Thanks for the clarification of what you meant by the story striking a balance between a gritty and a cartoonish/absurd tone, and I agree that there are elements of the latter in FF7, particularly the elaborate summoning sequences. So in this respect, FF7 is different from MGS, which is more grounded in reality. If I do end up playing the Remake at some point in my life, maybe I'd get used to the character designs after playing for many hours, who knows.

After more than two decades, it finally dawned on me that "Tekken" means "Iron First". Came to this realization while watching a Youtube video of the song "Morning Field", the theme for Jun's stage in Tekken 2 (one of my favorite tracks from the series). The video had the logo of Tekken 2 up with the kanji 鉄拳, and it's only now that I'm able to comprehend what it means. The "Tek" () part I recognized from Iron-Blooded Orphans (Tekketsu no Orufenzu), whereas the "ken" () part I recognized from Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no ken).
